Kirk Lanier’s Photography

Published by Brian at 9:43 am under art, music, photography

I knew Kirk was a talented guy, so when Dr. Sullivan wrote to say, Check out this guy’s flickr stream, I was pretty sure I was in for a treat. But I didn’t think my mind would be blown by the man’s irrepressible use of color.

Of this old Plymouth, Kirk says:

I visited a junkyard near home yesterday and took these shots. It seems this yard was abandoned in the late 50’s since all the cars seem to be that old.

And then there’s the “Mexico Wall” series:

I know Kirk as the bass player in Strange Heroes, a good-times band that makes you think. But I didn’t realize he made custom guitars, as well.

Kirk built this custom Stratocaster for Bruce, Strange Heroes’ guitarist:

Cocobolo neck, hot lipstick pickups and a humbucker. This baby growls! I listened to the blues while creating this guitar…just to get them vibes ingrained :)
